pot vending machine

This morning I was doing my daily RSSing. An article that caught my attention was about machines that vend Pot, Weed, Herb, Grass, The Sticky Green, you name it. This all takes place in the city of angels. Los Angeles. I guess this is good news for all the pot heads and stoners. What's next? Vending machines with meds? Vicodin, please.

Some pictures I took around Downtown Fullerton on December 26th. I was really bored during winter break and had to get out and do something other than just stare at the computer screen all day. I do apologize in advance some some crappy pictures. haha. I didn't really filter out the good and bad. I just kind dragged the whole set I took to flickr.

another night in little tokyo

The image “http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2276/2201962191_d280ef90e3.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Another visit to little tokyo. After stuffing ourselves with japanese food over at daikokuya, we hit up the newly opened pink berry across the street. Good as always. I haven't really craved frozen yogart in awhile but that doesn't mean i've lost the taste buds for it. That sweet, tart, frozen goodness can never be hated.

Ok... so i've realized that pink berry has some kind of uncontrollable affect on certain individuals. This was brought to my attention when I've paid close attention to friends after consuming the yogurt. Lydia seemed to get inevitably high. Erk in the other hand becomes a 626 gangster that likes to mad dog you at your yogurt until the affect wares away. scary. And as for me, uh, I just have a big smile on my face. It's kind of scary as well 'cause I look like I have a smile of the joker or the cheshire cat from alice in the wonderland. haa...

Pictures below. enjoy!

Pervasive Persuasion @ Moca 2008

I attended Pervasive Persuasion at the moca after work. I received vip tickets from work at munky king so i thought... heck, why not?! It was nice to see Gary baseman, Tim biskup, and toki doki (i don't know his real name) lecture about their art and works. After taking a break to grab some dinner with luke chueh and joe ledbetter, i went back by myself to the Pervasive Persuasion show to hit up the walls inside. It was lots of fun! Plenty of paint was provided for everyones needs. I was browsing through flickr today to see what pictures people took and discovered moca had taken a few pictures of my little doodles. I feel so famous! haha. But i'm sure they have no clue who I am anyways. For those who made it out, it was nice to see you guys there even though we didn't talk. Oh, and it was free to get in the takashi murakami exhibit. So I went again through the whole gallery and of course was amazed again. Go visit moca today! Don't sleep on Murakami's exhibit. It is so worth it!

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A man died after falling several stories in a Hollywood shopping mall while apparently attempting to slide down the banister of an escalator, authorities said.

The Hollywood & Highland complex includes the theater where the Academy Awards ceremony is held.

The victim's friends told officials investigating the Saturday night incident at the Hollywood & Highland Center that the man "had been drinking quite a bit," said Los Angeles police Officer J. Boyer.

Boyer said the man lost his balance and plunged several stories onto the steps of a moving lower-level escalator.

The man was not identified. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead from a head injury.

The Hollywood & Highland Center also holds the Kodak Theatre, where the Academy Awards are held.

chewing gum is an easy way to lose weight (?)

Read this today on wired blog. This may help people that are trying to turn their new years resolution into reality. Read up!

Two German doctors presented case studies today suggesting that chewing too much sugar-free gum could lead to extreme weight loss of up to 20% of a person's normal body weight.

The work, which appears in the journal BMJ, consists of two case studies (pdf). In the first, a 21-year old woman reported experienced severe diarrhea four to twelve times per day. She'd lost 11 kilograms and had a body mass index of 16.6, substantially below normal. Patient interviews revealed she was chewing about 15 pieces of sugar free gum per day. She stopped chewing the gum and her symptoms disappeared. A middle aged man had similar symptoms and the same miraculous weight-gain upon cessation of gum chewing.

Given that most weight-loss drugs have a difficult time producing one-pound per week weight loss, you might think the scientists would trumpet these findings as a prelude to the newest blockbuster pharmaceutical. But sadly, the drop in pounds was the result of diarrhea and other bowel-trouble caused by ingesting too much sorbitol, a common sweetener that has laxative properties at high dosages.

As John Clemens, a UCLA professor told WebMD about sorbitol, "The laxative effect is very well documented," he said. "We would not expect the average consumer to consume upwards of 20 sticks of gum a day."

That might have been true before these findings, but now, I expect to add at least 15 sticks of chewing gum to my diet per hamburger eaten. Hey, laxatives worked for the guys on my high school's wrestling team.

UPDATE (2:45pm): Commenter Andrew points out, "It's funny because I jus watched a "House" episode where a woman ran into this particular laxative effect because of her gum haha." To wit: Episode #206, which aired November 15, 2005, proving that science sometimes imitates Brian Singer. Also, we're kidding--laxative abuse is dangerous--so don't really try this at home.

happy new year!

Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday. I spent the new years with a few close friends. We had fun playing DJ in the garage. Ok, we may suck at DJing but we sure had the sick tunes bumping. Thanks to Erk's family and friends for providing super good thai(wanese) food. It was bomb. I also had fun jamming with my friends family and friends. Jamming on the drums felt fun again. I hadn't done so in soo long.

a few tracks that were played at the party...

sneaky sound system - pictures (tonight only remix)

I played this for the ones who needed it...
